Lots buzzing around $KDA today. It's sad to see this news but it's not surprising. There seems to be some drawing parallels between $KDA and $ICP and think it's proof that good tech isn't enough. This isn't true at all. I think it's proof that innovative and exciting tech on paper doesn't always equate to good execution and a viable network in practice. Experimental tech like $KDA can be some of the riskiest investments of them all. As somebody who rode $KDA from around $0.70 to over $18 this is my 2c -> >What made me invest in $KDA? The team and unique tech. This was a time when it was clear $ETH and related L2s weren't the end all be all in my mind. I knew there would be another evolution of blockchain to usurp them on the horizon. To me, this wouldn't be some ETH clone. $KDA was a hedge in that direction for me, alongside others which had radical new approaches. >Why did I suspect it would flop long ago? My memory is fuzzy on the details as this ended up a rather short investment for me but the network had critical issues early on, alongside this it failed to see much of anything in the way of dapps. Dapps prove the viability of the network, both for devs and users. KDA basically had nothing going on. IMO, this was due to it being a pretty foreign development environment. The unique structure of the network, contract language, etc meant you'd have to be pretty committed to building on that network to launch anything. There just wasn't enough incentive for builders to care about that. Competition was fierce and KDA wasn't going to win in the current state. Needless to say when the price was right it made a lot more sense to exit than to be greedy. I lightly kept tabs on it in case things changed but I never saw compelling reasons to reinvest. During this time period I made multiple hedges like this with varying percentages of my portfolio. This included Chia ($XCH), which I farmed before it was tradeable and sold between $1200-1700 (now $7). I exited them all for various reasons, luckily with profit, but each could have rekt me if I wasn't careful. They were/are great teams with inspiring vision and innovation but that's not always going to translate into longevity and success. $ICP is the only network from this era of my research and investing which I not only kept my initial investment but doubled, tripled, and eventually went all-in on. I waited for its first dips into the 6-8 range but I've been obsessively involved ever since. I'm no whale, and I'm far from the smartest person in the industry, but my track record is pretty solid. If I saw a reason to dump I would. Instead of selling, I'm making posts like this. Few™
